Training
Because of the depth of training the Junior League offers, our members are among the most effective and caring volunteers in the community. Members, both present and past, sit on numerous boards in Odessa and bring with them the knowledge and leadership skills gained through JLO.
How We Train Our Members
General Membership Meetings
Large group gatherings that often feature speakers covering topics such as communication skills, diversity, and leadership.
In-League Committees
Hands-on training comes through committee work. For example:
-
Learn finance skills by serving with the Financial Vice President
-
Gain media and communications experience through the Public Relations team
Provisional Course
New members learn how the League operates through structured training led by the Provisional Committee.
AJLI Training Opportunities
As part of the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI), JLO members have access to premier training and networking, including:
-
Fall & Winter Leadership Conferences
-
Annual Conference
-
Organizational Development Institutes (ODI)
-
Webinars & Regional Meetings
These programs bring in top trainers and speakers (many of whom work with Fortune 500 companies) on topics like financial training, public speaking, parliamentary procedure, and member engagement.
Beyond JLO
The training and connections you gain through the League go far beyond volunteering. Many members have gone on to become federal judges, political appointees, successful businesswomen, and respected community leaders.
